Tonsillectomy
Tonsillectomy (Tonsillectomy)
Tonsillectomy is the surgical removal of the tonsils, usually performed in cases of recurrent infections, excessive enlargement of the tonsils, or airway obstruction. This procedure usually involves a short hospital stay. The goal of this surgery is to improve breathing and swallowing function, and reduce recurrent throat infections.
Postoperative Care:
Patients are advised to avoid hot, spicy, or solid foods for several days. Cold liquids, soft meals, and adequate rest are recommended. Mild throat pain and discomfort during swallowing are common and managed with prescribed analgesics.
Outcome:
Most patients recover within 7–10 days. Significant improvement in breathing, reduction of recurrent throat infections, and better sleep quality are typically achieved after surgery.
