TUL (Transurethral Lithotripsy)

In this method, stones in the ureter are removed or crushed through the urethra without making any incisions in the skin. Using a ureteroscope and laser energy, the doctor breaks the stone into small pieces and removes them. This procedure is considered one of the least invasive urological surgeries and the patient is usually discharged within 24 hours.

 

 

Postoperative Care:

A temporary urinary catheter or DJ stent may be placed. Patients should drink plenty of fluids to help flush out stone fragments. Mild burning or trace blood in urine may occur for a few days.

 

Outcome:

Patients are usually discharged within 24 hours. The procedure has a success rate above 95%, with rapid recovery and return to normal activities.
