Medical tourism is a travel for the purpose of receiving medical and health services. The idea of the first medical trips came to the minds of patients when citizens of one country made a smart decision to travel to other countries for treatment and medical services due to reasons such as the lack of necessary medical facilities or the high cost of a specific surgery.
Health tourism in Iran in its current form first attracted the attention of the Ministry of Health, Medical Education and Medical Education of the country in 2003, and a year later it attracted the attention of the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization. In the same year, the first steps were taken to develop medical tourism in Iran. With the significant potential that Iran has in all types of health tourism, including medicine, health and naturopathy, it has made significant progress in the past few years and has achieved many achievements.
